Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 26, 2018 9:34 am Hi! We filled in an indoor pond that is about 3.5m by 2m, builder said about 300mm thick of concrete. It's concrete on top of the original concrete slab, and bringing the void left by the pool to slab level. Floor prep guy said 12 months before we can lay new laminate over it. Does that sound right? How long before we can lay natural tiles? Thanks! Re: Concrete- dry time before tiling/ laminate/ timber 2Jun 13, 2018 8:27 am The concrete needs to cure before applying floor finishes over. If timber floor, leave as long as you can. But 5% moisture content is best. You can apply a hydropoxy or drizoro max seal membrane over to keep moisture off if required sooner. We are also a little worried because it was slab over slab (about 300mm of slab over existing slab). Our builder didn't put waterproofing over before pouring the new concrete. There, theorectically, is waterproofing under the original slab and the pond- theoretically because we were not there 20 years ago to see it done! Is that a huge concern? Can the hydropoxy/ drizoro max seal help with the situation? thanks! It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 9010 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Ditto 3M Claw, expensive but best thing I've used to date.
