Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 15, 2018 8:12 pm Hello folks Am in the process of reviewing my HIA contract. I do intend to employ building inspectors / engineers as part of inspecting each stage completion. However, there is no reference in the HIA contract around my legal right to have inspections done (on my behalf) for each stage. My builder has confirmed to me in email that I can get my own inspectors. However, given that there is no wording to that effect in HIA, how can I be 100% sure that I will not be caught out on this if the builder has change of heart on inspections? Thanks Re: Inspections and HIA Contract 2May 15, 2018 10:20 pm It is because your rights are in legislation, DBCA1995 (google it) and they cannot be contracted out.
