We are building a new house and the tilers are laying the tiles as we speak. The tiles are going down straight on top of the particle board. One of the tilers said he has never laid tiles directly onto particle board only onto fibre cement sheeting. Is laying them onto the particle board the correct way or an approved way of doing it? Due to the expansion and contraction of the timber, it is never recommended to adhere ceramic tiles directly onto timber floor. Untreated floors should be primed with ABA Multiprime. Apply ABA Ceramic Tile Underlay at 6mm minimum bed thickness. Allow to dry prior to tiling, or use the Isoflex system.
