Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Oct 07, 2016 9:29 pm Hi everyone . Does any of you have rendered EPS pier on the facade ? Mine had some problem ( render doesn't reach the ground) . My SM told me during PCI that they have to reconstruct the front pier coz that's the only way to do it. Now I have discover they put timber skirting board around it . I was told they have to leave that gap to allow movement . If there is no gap, render will crack when house moves . I have walked around in our estate , I can't find any house has rendered pier like mine . Can you guys give me some opinion or photos ? Thanks heaps . Hope someone helps you Thanks Emma, I just came back from walk around Livingston and my estate . I can't see one house has timber or whatever board around. If it is then its not acceptable externally Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Rendered EPS Pier on facade. 5Oct 10, 2016 11:28 am @structuralBIMGuy thank you. I was just about to reply your message. I am in Parks Edge estate in Melbourne. I am not sure what material it is but i know they used the same thing around the corner window. If you see the first photo posted above. The board around the corner was in pink. They painted to grey. The skirting board on the bottom of the pier is pink too so i assume it is the same material The rendered pier size is 590 X590 MM. It has a is 90 x 90mm timber post inside. So i assume it the foam thingy in between ? The depth of the gap on the bottom is all the way to the timber post. If i used a stick , I can reach the timber post. But I have read what you've sent!!! So angry!!!! Oh no! I would use a can of expandable foam ( there are some that will take render) then cut it back and render over the top 1 4108 I should have followed up on this thread. So, the pier foundation wasn't large enough on the side it was leaning towards, and the NBN cable went through the pier, just… 8 12106 Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7199 |
