Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Sep 17, 2016 1:27 am Hey people, Im building a double storey house... my ensuite and bathroom were both waterproofed with roller paint membrane which im assuming is standard these days... When I went over my contract builder was suppose to supply copper trays as part of the waterproofing for the shower recesses. This was MISSED! Should I have builder rip out the tiles and sand/cement and waterproofing and start again? Am I going to experience water leaks in future if I dont get them installed or should I just ask for a credit on them??? Anyone please help with this query Re: Waterproofing showers and copper Trays 2Sep 17, 2016 10:05 am Difficult problem. You surely were not expected to provide a "check" on such things. Do you have photos to prove it - or would they have to remove the tiles ? I'd almost say - take the credit - BUT ... in 5-10 years you may be sorry you did. I thought when they did these fibreglass type membranes they didn't do the "tray" - as such - anymore. But may be wrong. If you have hobs etc I'd definitely want it done - I hate them. The more edges/corners the more chance of a crack imo. BUT - you might need expert advice from a builder.
