Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 30, 2016 7:32 pm Hi all, Just wonder if anyone knows or has a copy of this standard? Our inspector pointed out that the vapour barrier was not properly installed as per building standard. But Henley insisted that they were correctly installed as per the above standard and deemed compliant by the building surveyor. We have been asking them to send us a copy of this clause to discuss with our independent inspector if the clause is actually applicable, but Henley never responded back. Thanks for anyone's help! Re: Clause 5.3.3(b) of AS 2870 – 2011 (vapour barrier) 3Jul 12, 2016 7:01 pm Hi Michael, Our inspector said that the vapour barrier should have been extended under edge beams to finish at ground level to stop the ingress of moisture to the floor beam. At the moment, the vapour barrier terminates at the internal face of the external beams. Apparently Henley argued that this is in accordance to the above-mentioned clause. The clause does say this may be justified by satisfactory local experience. Sounds bit vague for us :/ The inspector suggested to bring this to VBA. Keen to know what people's thought...
