Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 24, 2016 1:03 am Hi Guys, First post here however have been reading on this forum for sometime. We have been extending our home and have now just finished laying the bricks for the garage. Today i noticed the bricks on top of where the garage door is going seems to be leaning outwards on the first two rolls. I know i will be rendering the walls but it seems odd that the bricks are leaning out wards. Should i be worried? or am I just thinking too much. It's about the trades you hire and ensuring that they give a result that meets the industry standard and the home owners expectations. Re: Brick work should i be worried?? 3Jul 01, 2016 11:41 am Who supplied the steel lintel ? It should have been a 150 x 100mm gal angle or at least 100 x 100mm depending on the span and load above. As per abs above, the weld or roundness at the back of the lintel you show is pushing the brick further to the front. Using a wider lintel also stops you seeing those brick holes from below.
