Hi,
We are building in Brisbane, we are at the contract stage of the process prior to building with one of more major Builders. Throughout the process they had advised us that the house needs to meet a 6 Star Energy Rating. We had added extra ceiling and Wall insulation to our build (it's Queensland after all!) and they had advised us that we should easily meet the 6 Star Standard. Now at the last minute though, they are saying everything has changed and that there is something new called "Energy Compliant" and it is much stricter and we have to meet that. So they want to add all this extra stuff to the build.
We had planned on having Ceiling fans added after handover (plus other LED Downlights and a few other things) by our own Electrician as it will saves us loads of money.
I have been trying to search online, but I cannot find any mention anywhere about a new Energy Standard for QLD that replaces the current 6 star Energy Rating Minimum. Does anyone know anything about this? Or can point me to a link about it?
Is it also fair that they should be able to take into account that we will be having Ceiling fans installed after handover and factor that into the Energy plan?
Any advise/comments appreciated.
Thanks!
