We have noticed that the nails used in the frames are Bright steel D head nails. Should they have used hot dipped gal nails? Re: We have noticed that the nails used in the frames are Br 2Jun 09, 2016 1:26 pm if they are using treated timber they should be using galv nails, its quite a common thing i have come across with a lot of builders i have sub contracted to, all down to the cost of box of nails ,also if its 90 x 45 timber they should be min 82 long not the common 75 again its down to cost. As it turns out all the frames were supposed to be nailed with gal nails as well. Then as of today just found out the big metal girder used across the front of the first floor connecting the main balcony was suppose to be hot dip Gal but apparently it's not! That sucks! Hope it all works out.
