Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Deck so far. Builder now wants to charge a large variation to run the deck boards the short length.. We are disappointed as the direction won't match the inside of the house then. I understand the direction doesn't matter inside as there is yellow tongue in between. Even though the certificate shows them this way. Says something about the bearers not lining up. Floor inside goes N to S ie will only match if the deck runs the short length. Builder wants to run timbers the long length. Shouldn't the deck go perpendicular to the bearers? Ie If bearers are per plan the deck should go the short length? Or surely if there is a conflict between architects picture and engineer detail it should have been identified to us first.. Thoughts? Since the bearers and joists are already installed, I am not surprised at the cost to redo, though it's annoying how they charge like wounded bulls. Hard to read, but it looks like the bearers are run according to engineering. Perhaps they could run the internal floors the other way instead? Re: Decking boards 3Feb 25, 2016 2:26 am Yeah that's basically my summary of it.. 2,500k! I think that's just the amount he quotes when he doesn't want to do something haha. Internal floor is already done. I'm annoyed it wasn't discussed since it seems there's a conflict between the engineer and the architect drawing. Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 4 6010 Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10970 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1921 |
