Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Feb 04, 2016 4:25 pm Hello all, I have just joined this forum. I am not sure whether this forum works as others do where you can ask questions and advice or how to do something??? I assume so? I have searched for a while for answers to my questions, but as always, when searching you need to have the right combination of words to get the right answer... To my question. I am having a house built. The builder thought he would give me a great new years present by going broke. The house is at lock-up, HOWEVER he has taken 90% of the funds and didn't supply heating, appliances, flooring, cabinets, etc etc. About 60 grand of work still to be done. PLUS he didn't pay his insurance so we are now stuck with going through VMIA govt insurance to try and get what we can done. I am fairly handy having renovated two houses in the past so I am taking this on as an owner builder. Here is a picture which may help explain what I am trying to say.. http://ienco.com.au/images/Eave.jpg As you can see, the joists come out and the metal fascia I know has a slot where the clad slips into. However on the other side, the brickwork is higher so to get this so as the cladding is horizontally level, do I dynabolt/nail a piece of timber along the brickwork and nail the cladding to that. I know some quad goes on later, but the issue I am not sure about, is whether what I want to do is the way it is done? Or is there an easier way?? Hope this makes sense and someone can assist Tony Re: Under Eave Lining 2Feb 04, 2016 4:44 pm What you propose is fine. Just search "eaves soffit detail" with Google Images and you should find some drawings illustrating what you need to do. Before you install the lining it might be a good idea to think about installing vents.
