When the wrong bricks are used, usually the brickies demolish and rebuild. Not that uncommon. The brick work is not structural if in Victoria. Fast work to demolish and can be done very precisely these days with an arbourteck mortar saw. I would be expecting replacement. The wall shouldn't leak.
