Well the drawings weren't amended it was a correction they did on site after it was identified that there was an error in the drawings. An engineer etc didn't sign off on the changes as far as I am aware and not sure if one should have perhaps. Does such an error represent a breach of the BCA? What do you suggest I do follow bim guys advice above? Fortunately my cousin is a highly skilled engineer and she can probably have a look in the first instance. Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 Proper procedure should have been to amend architectural drawings then send them to engineer for review. Once review is completed (with changes if any) drawings are forwarded to Building Surveyor for amendment of building permit. Once stamped revised drawings are distributed. Your builder should know and follow proper procedure. Failing to follow approved drawings is a breach of warranties. His report listed the need for grip connectors in that area? But also said it varies slightly from the engineer detail. We are paying the builder to construct per engineer detail? You seem to have problem grasping simple concepts. In Victoria Building Surveyor interprets and administers building control legislation, not engineers BS does not have to be an engineer and relies on engineering design that is peer reviewed and certified with Form 14 Your rant has no point. BTW, IMO the home builder should select the engineer for peer review (if required?) and definately for the final inspection ..no use wasting any more of the average punters money with unqualified structural inspections by the VBS.hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs I am saying that double brick has similar thermal performance due to thermal mass effect.
