Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jan 08, 2016 3:15 pm Hi Everyone Were building in WA and noticed our ceiling joists that attach to the 31 courses aren't dyna bolted to the wall, it just has bits of pine joined to the roof. Our previous builds have been bolted and im wondering if anyone knows the standard/regulations around this? Some of the joist span over 4m and only held up by the nailed timber for support. How are timber hangers attached to the ceiling fixing plate are they nailed (as I don't see any straps?} combining inadequate/ inferior fixing methods doesn't equal the correct method, this is often a misconception on site, the builder will need his engineer to certified that the above is equivalent or better than what is required. I also suggest you have the whole roof checked out. Re: Ceiling Joists not dyna bolted? 4Jan 10, 2016 10:59 am Quite often fixings such as dynabolts, straps, brackets are not delivered, missing, incorrectly used, misplaced etc, etc. 1. I cant see hanger straps? 2. Have the nail fixings cracked the timbers? etc,etc Again you will need to have it properly checked and you'll need an Engineers Certificate Stating " Fit For Purpose". Thanks for the photos I might add the purpose is to support the ceiling Dead loads and a tradesman + toolbag Live loads.
