Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Nov 16, 2015 11:37 am I am building a room which is 6 x 4.4m. The walls are timber stud and will is being built under an existing patio. What I need help with is timber sizes and options. Can I span the 4.4m width with a joist without a hanger or cross batten Or do I need a hanger or go with a smaller joist and use a hanger. I guess the cheapest alternative is the winner. What size and grade timbers would I need and in what layout? Thanks. Oh and I plan to do it at 600mm centres.
