Good day,
I am nearing the end of construction of my new home, i'm building in an estate, so the houses around me are also in construction phase. We are starting to look at fencing (timber paling) as my rear neighbor has completed construction.
I wanted to know if there is a general distance a retaining wall should be away from the boundary?
Or it depends on the situation.
When the retaining walls were added on my plans, I asked the builder and they said they would be about 200mm from the boundary.
So on our left side, we have a retaining wall and so does our neighbor (retaining walls are side by side).
I've had a few fence people come out for measurements, who then told me that our retaining wall is actually on the boundary.
There's a gap of 130mm between the retaining walls, and even if they manage to squeeze the fencing in between, there's pipes by the retaining wall that would get damaged.
So we are not sure how to proceed now, as the builder doesn't want to remove the retaining wall (the retaining wall was not required as our neighbor had put 1 in, but builder said it was on the plan, so has to be there).
Has anyone had issues similar to this?
Any advise would be great.
Thanks.
