I'm guessing nails are not bolts and nails going through the bottom plate into the concrete slab is not an efficient method of fixing the frame to the slab. Another thing to add to the defective list haha ohhh builders make me laugh. Thats not entirely correct. Typically where there is a bracing panel, then bolts or chemical anchors will be required. If it is simply fixing the wall to the slab where there is no bracing or additional tie down required then yes nails through the bottom plate into the slab are all that is required. Sorry, what is bracing panel? Bracing panels are typically ply or fibre cement sheets nailed to the wall frame. They can also be metal straps or angles fixed diagonally to the frame. At each end of the brace the wall needs to be tied down to the slab, this is normally done by screw in bolts, chemically secured bolts or in some cases hardened concrete nails. This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8045 Thanks Pulse, thats really helpful and very much appreciated. Also thanks for the pointer on sheathing, thats me watching too many american youtube videos! 6 2812 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
