Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 7May 31, 2015 8:55 pm mgilla if the space is 930 and your fridge is 908 I dont think you will have a problem. Typically modern fridge doors dont open any wider than the side of the fridge. Hi mgilla. I wish we had the 930mm clear space. But with the skirting, we're actually left with approx 906mm. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 8May 31, 2015 9:07 pm By the time you add skirtings to bottoms of walls 2x15mm= 30mm your fridge won't fit Normally I will support builder for reasonable tolerance but as you have alerted him dimensions are critical then more care should have been taken. After allowing for exangle the recess should not have been less than 950 mm Builder needs to fix it. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 10May 31, 2015 9:17 pm Thanks for all your input. It's disappointing to have this issue as I stressed how important it is that we have sufficient clearance. I really hope it doesn't cause us delay! Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 11May 31, 2015 9:25 pm We had a dilemma with our plans about fridge spaces but we sorted it before hand, lucky for us. Our plans had two different sizes, however the bigger size was the frame size, but the fridge space is 80mm smaller (which doesn't make sense to me anyway but yeh that's how ours is) . Maybe this is what has happened to you. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 12May 31, 2015 9:36 pm I had to take cavity size into account when selecting a new fridge recently. One option would have meant removing the skirts to make it fit. Would have been fine as you won't notice when it's jammed full of fridge but decided to pick a different fridge instead. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 14Jun 02, 2015 5:25 pm While the fridge might fit with the skirts removed, fridges typically have minimum side clearance specifications for air movement. It'd be best to check the fridge requirements, and not just let the builder get off with fitting the fridge in the hole. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 15Jun 02, 2015 8:20 pm I discussed my concerns with the builder and SS will be rectifying the issue. I don't know how but I've given him the fridge specs so he knows exactly how much clearance we need. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 16Jun 02, 2015 9:12 pm Sheilzy I discussed my concerns with the builder and SS will be rectifying the issue. I don't know how but I've given him the fridge specs so he knows exactly how much clearance we need. And that is how it should be. Well done. Re: Frame size and gyprock thickness question 17Jun 02, 2015 9:18 pm This forum is fantastic and has really been invaluable especially in this instance. Thank you everyone Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820. What size does the frame need to be before door jamb? Thanks 0 2328 6 9173 |
