My independent inspector picked up that nearly my entire house's brick/frame cavity is breached with mortar and needs to be cleared out. The builder has indicated that this will be done by cutting the sisalation, clearing the cavity and then repairing the sislation. Based on the following photo I've seen of how neatly they've cut the sisalation however, I'm not sure how great the repair is going to be; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Sisalation Repair 2Apr 22, 2015 12:02 pm is it really normal for that much extra mortar to be allowed to hang there on the inside face? How long would it take a brickie to wipe it off as he lays? I guess it would interfere with his haste to get to the next job to make another stack of money? Re: Sisalation Repair 3Apr 22, 2015 2:27 pm Yeah, we're pretty unhappy with that too. Pure laziness on the part of the brick layer and the only reason that we now have the breach of the cavity in the first place. I'm no expert, but I don't think this is normal/acceptable brickwork what so ever. It certainly doesn't scream quality when I see it. I can't imagine the builder would be too happy to use it for advertising purposes either based on how it looks.
