Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Dec 25, 2014 10:43 pm Hi! My husband and I are building our first house. Recently our builders have started putting the gyprock up. Unfortunately they didn't use their usual people. Now building has stopped for the year and we have looked at the work they have done with the gyprock and are extremely worried. I will try to send you some photos of our concerns through a link. Please offer advice if you can. http://s1301.photobucket.com/user/Carli ... t=3&page=1 Thanks Carlie Re: Gyprock advice please! 2Dec 26, 2014 9:09 am Wow, what were they doing here ? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This next one just looks like uncompleted work, where they will add another strip of gyprock to go in that gap. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The rest of your photos really aren't too much to worry about, as they will fill up all those gaps, hammer marks, etc. when they do the finishing then sanding. Yep, it looks real bad, but unfinished gyprocking doesn't look all that good. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Looks to me they cant cut and measure properly. The more holes you put into a plaster sheet the weaker its overall strength becomes. Repairs do not restore it back to original strength exactly. The 5th photo - bugle head screws must go in where the paper is unbroken. Thats unacceptable. Re: Gyprock advice please! 4Dec 26, 2014 9:25 pm Totally agree qebtel! We have looked into the gyprock process and their work is terrible. The damage to the gyprock I believe will affect the integrity of the wall. Also, nails have gone in too far, wood is exposed and you are not supposed to have random little bits of gyprock especially when they don't even match up. We are thinking we will ask for it to be done again as otherwise I think there will be so many imperfections. This can not just be covered up by plaster. Re: Gyprock advice please! 5Dec 27, 2014 5:46 pm Do you have niche in the shower wall? Looks like the reason for the holes made by the hammer. How they make the hole has no bearing on the finished product contrary to the advice above.
