Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Nov 20, 2014 10:21 am Just wanting to know what I should expect with square set gyprocking, as far as how high up off the floor they finish it, and who is responsible to ensure that skirting boards don't pull outwards, and therefore not vertical. I've just had my home gyprocked for square set, and it's done by doing the ceiling then the top wall sheets go in butted up to the ceiling sheet, then the lower sheets are put in. What this has left in my place is a gap from the floor to the bottom sheet of up to 40mm, and this would mean skirting board when fitted would slope back in to the wall as there's nothing to support the skirting boards in that 40mm area. The chippies say the gyprockers should fill that, the gyprockers say that's a job for the chippies. Personally I feel that it is the gyprockers because they were employed to gyprock the walls, and the walls go all the way to the ground, less say 10mm as you don't want them contacting the floor in case of liquid spills soaking in from the floor. I've just received my invoice for their work today. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Blog : http://bandlnewhomebuild.blogspot.com H1 thread : viewtopic.php?f=38&t=68283 . Re: Gyprocking square set gap to floor 40mm 2Nov 20, 2014 9:40 pm The tradies are right bpratt. If I rolled up onsite to install skirtings and found that scenario I'd be charging more to pack it out. They could have used off cuts to fill it in, or made up the difference with 1350mm sheets, the plasterers are being lazy. Get them back mate! You can also buy a SE (square edge) sheet (1 side or both sides) which can also be handy in this situation, albeit too late now!! Hope this helps! Re: Gyprocking square set gap to floor 40mm 3Nov 20, 2014 10:09 pm Def get the plasterers back to cut strips in around the bottom. One of the reasons why sq set cornices cost more is the fact you have to cut down a 1350 sheet that now exists at the bottom that would usually be at the top and covered by your cornice. Re: Gyprocking square set gap to floor 40mm 4Nov 22, 2014 9:26 pm Thanks guys, that's just what they've now promised to do. Clever Brendan thought he'd pull all the cables through the walls, only to find out that you're not supposed to do that until after the walls have been finished and sanded off ! ... doh !! Re: Gyprocking square set gap to floor 40mm 5Nov 24, 2014 7:49 pm Question...if my frame height is 2680mm for a nominal 2700mm ceiling height on my drawings I'm guessing they have done this deliberately due to my square set and avoid the cut bottom fill in piece? Does that make sense as to why they cut the studs that length? Does anyone know what the ceiling height tolerance is? Does anyone know what the ceiling height tolerance is? is the 2680 the internal or external walls, the external will have a ribbon plate around that would take the height to 2715, perfect height for 2 x 1350 sheets. Re: Gyprocking square set gap to floor 40mm 9Nov 24, 2014 11:41 pm They've been back today to start on putting the strips along the bottom, and plan on finishing it tomorrow.
