Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Sep 06, 2014 7:03 pm We have our colour appointment this week and are still trying to decide on our exterior colours. We definitely want a surfmist roof and are thinking of dune for the render and silver windows. Just wondering if we should choose are dark colour for the garage like woodland grey and maybe same for the front door. Does anyone have any suggestions? Every day above ground is a good day Re: Exterior colours 3Sep 07, 2014 9:00 am We've kept ours quite simple. Rendered all around and Grand Piano (sort of white). Garage door and gates are a cedar look. As is front door. Roof tiles are a light colour too. It looks great amongst all the dark colours and colorbond roofs ... Re: Exterior colours 4Sep 07, 2014 2:40 pm Hey Tbags! Just love me a cuppa! I'm with d@n - would be great to see a picture of the front of your house, coz very difficult to imagine otherwise. If you're having trouble with getting one on your post just ask - everyone's very helpful! Re: Exterior colours 5Sep 07, 2014 6:34 pm Thanks guys, here is the link to the façade. Ours is fully rendered though so no brick work. http://www.boutiquehomes.com.au/home-de ... 4-contempo Every day above ground is a good day Re: Exterior colours 7Sep 07, 2014 11:50 pm OOohh, I like that! Looks lovely. Personally I like another colour to break things up a bit. I have very recently decided to change the façade on my house as I essentially only had 2 colours. Added cedar look to front door, garage and exposed timber. No photos yet sorry, but I think it can add some wow factor to your façade. The same can be achieved with the colour of your choice! Are you having the roof, gutters and fascia all in surfmist, coz I have also seen the use of the third colour for the fascia, garage and front door. - can look quite effective. Again, very personal choice. I am absolutely no expert - just throwing some ideas around for you. Good luck with it. Re: Exterior colours 8Sep 08, 2014 7:16 pm Thanks Rache. That's exactly what I am thinking. Our windows are silver so I was thinking maybe a mid grey or dark grey for the front door and garage. Every day above ground is a good day Re: Exterior colours 9Sep 12, 2014 8:14 pm How'd you go Tbags? Did you come up with something you like? Re: Exterior colours 10Sep 28, 2014 3:54 pm Hi Rache, We ended up going with the surfmist roof, dune front render, silver windows and woodland grey garage and door. We chose the opera solver colour for the walls but now are questioning our choice. We wanted a white wall with a slight hint of grey but are wondering if anyone has chosen opera and what do they think? Every day above ground is a good day Re: Exterior colours 11Sep 28, 2014 11:37 pm That sounds lovely tbags. They are all gorgeous colours that work well together I reckon. My two favourite whites with hint of grey are surfmist and whisper white, the latter being the lighter of the two. Don't forget you can do a half strength or quarter strength of one of your chosen colours. I haven't heard of opera - there are so many whites it can be a bit confusing, and they all tend to have a tinge of their base colour. Some suggest its a good idea to get sample pots and paint boards to get a better idea of the colour. So tricky from the samples Good luck!:-):-) Re: Exterior colours 12Sep 29, 2014 6:46 pm When we had our colour meeting the colours looked all good and then we went and grabbed a sample tin of the opera for the interior walls and it looked a lot different to all samples we have seen. Thinking time ahead now... Every day above ground is a good day Re: Exterior colours 13Sep 29, 2014 10:08 pm I know what you mean. You've got time with choosing your interior wall colours haven't you? Could you wait til you get cabinets etc in and see how it all looks?. I was absolutely having white duck quarter and have changed my mind to surfmist once cabinets went in. We only had to give the builders our choices for doors and trims at prestart. But we are doing all other internal painting after handover. If you search whites on here you will get some great ideas re what works well. Are we gonna get pics of your colour selections?
