Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jul 29, 2020 9:27 am My home is nearing completion, but my independent building inspector noted a wall that is out of plumb and exceeds tolerance with a 7mm gap over 2m. The permitted tolerance is 4mm. The wall in question is the dining/lounge wall. It appears to be ok towards the lounge end, but deviates out of tolerance at the dining end. The same wall extends through the kitchen, but that is not as easily checked due to cabinetry. What are the effects of leaving the wall as it is? Will the deviation be more noticable if we hang something in that area? Alternatively, if I place a tall piece of furniture with a straight edge there, is the deviation going to be visually noticable? Are there any construction issues that might cause this?
