Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Feb 18, 2014 10:00 am Hi All Has anyone ever used masterwall before. A draftsman I have been talking too recomends it highly. He is designing steel framed homes clad in Masterwall. The product brochure seems pretty good. Has anyone any feedback please? cheers Re: Anyone used Masterwall before? 2Feb 19, 2014 10:27 am Masterwall is a good product that we nominated for the external cladding on several homes. The most common thickness used is possibly the 75mm sheet rated at R2.0 on a framed wall which also allows a framing cavity to include R2.0 or R2.5 batts for added insulation levels. The extruded polystyrene system is also good for upper storey extensions where a light-weight system is required. Re: Anyone used Masterwall before? 3Mar 05, 2017 9:59 pm Hello Peter, I am a newbie to HomeOne, but read with interest your comments with Masterwall. My Architect has specified 75mm Masterwall (direct to frame) with a 5mm render outside, and while I am aware of it's insulation properties, I am concerned about it's fire-ratings and ability to dent, as it is being used both at Ground and First Floor. The other point I wanted to make is that based on this the Engineer has allowed for a depth of 70mm below bottom plate for it to sit on the slab rebate. The soil is H1 reactive and we have bored piers with a concrete slab ??? I wanted your viewpoint of using Masterwall, as I have heard concerning comments regarding cracks in the render, water ingres and non-durability of the product; and from what I read here you have been using it since 2008 or so. I want to ensure therefore that my builder uses the right approach and I get a quality finish that does not require too much maintainance. Re: Anyone used Masterwall before? 4Mar 06, 2017 1:21 pm Hi mehram I couldn't find any relevant engineering Data and Details so I guess the jury is still out on similar newer products. Ive inspected, maintained & repaired previous lightweight Panel rendered/ Esky Homes before ..they are a nightmare to repair and maintain. Unfortunately there are no Australian Standards and you are rightfully cautious regarding newer building systems..more info is required in order to make an informed decision.
