Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Aug 15, 2013 10:40 am We are planning to get a storage gas hot water heater installed. The heater is a Aquamax 390 SS. I understand there is a requirement to have the gas hot water heat installed next to a wall. But on this particular wall, we have a huge storm water PVC pipe run across the whole wall. The pipe is 100mm radius. We can't move the pipe, otherwise, it go across one of my window, which will be super duper ugly. My plumber suggested one way to solve the issue is to attach some wood studs between the wall and the tank. Not sure if anyone has faced same issue before and what is your fix? That heater I assume rests on a base so there is no weight carried by the brackets - they'd only be to stop it toppling over. I'm surprised the plumber didn't suggest something like this. There is no obvious storm water drain underneath there. The gutter was re-done by previous owner. Have no idea how it was drained before.
