Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 06, 2013 5:18 pm I was wondering if somebody out there knows the answer to this problem .
We are trying to work out paving levels down the side of our house. We have found that if we want to keep the paving level all the way along, it means having to excavate below the fence line at the back because the fence was built by the neighbours to follow the contours of the land. However, if we do a step up in the paving to avoid excavating we end up with the finished paving level being flush with the bottom weatherboard at the back of our house. I'm thinking in particular of the requirement for 75ml of the slab to be exposed for termite inspections. Can anyone help out on this one or know of an alternative solution? Re: Paving levels and finished floor levels 2Jun 07, 2013 8:28 am Floor level to ground level is a minimum of 150mm but this can be reduced to a min. of 50mm where paving slopes away from the slab edge. This does not over-ride the termite required distance if you are using 'exposed slab edge' method. Re: Paving levels and finished floor levels 3Jun 07, 2013 8:52 am Thank you for that Ausdesign. I'm really puzzled though as to why the builder was allowed to leave our house with less than 150mm of clearance between the ground and the floor level as in below:

Why is that the only people who seem to know the building regulations are on this forum? But the ORG is the other problem. It is supposed to be 50mm above the paving and it isn't. Also it is now virtually at the height of our shower base! It looks like we are going to have to rip up the concrete and do it ourselves. Re: Paving levels and finished floor levels 6Aug 22, 2013 8:42 pm Hi guys Just wondering if anyone has exposed slab on their house. We have it on the right hand side of the house. (see picture) Anyone know whether this is ok or should I be worried?
