Hi,
We are Owner builders in Qld.
On our plans we have a very large garage, and are thinking of putting a wall across the back of it and turning that into a media room.
As the block is a sloping block sideways - this room would actually be below ground level at the back - tanked on the right and have a block wall with a patio door through to another room on the left.....therefore it has no windows - other than the patio door though to the other room - which would provide light and ventilation if open. It does have ducted air con...
Would there be any additional requirements to make this a media room as far as council and building regs is concerned?
Would they class this as a habitable room ? and if so why? or why not?
We dont want to change the plans to do this and find we are in for lots more expense...obviously being under ground - sound proofing would be great, and as the garage is huge - it would be a good use of space.
