For instance we previously had a 30mm step from the carpet hallway and will the new floor tiles (approx the same height) they have had to shave down the underside of the 3 doors (bathroom, toilet and laundry renovation) to raw timber. The side of the laundry door has also been planed/shaved down to make it fit when it was re-hung? Can I retain funds to get these doors re-painted? In addition, they also badly scraped the one door frame (down to the metal taking off about 4 layers of paint) with the hinges so this will definitely to be re-painted As such, we'll need to repaint 6 doors/doorframes - is it reasonable to retain monies to re-piant the 3 doors or get a quote for the 6 doors and frames and halve it? As our carpet between the bathroom, toilet and laundry has been cleaned 3 times but it still has gray marks/grout debris in it - is it reasonable to have the carpets professionally steamed cleaned to retore to pre-renovation appearance? Our living/dining room has also been cleaned 3 times and still has grease marks and gray smudges from where tradies didn't put down cover sheets or moved our cover sheets - I think that having given them 3 chances to fix this I can reasonably get their cleaned at the builders cost. And my last question, how long does the builder have to rectify the defects? the 3 rooms are 10sqm and it took 8 weeks to get to practical completion and I am being told that they hve 13 weeks to rectify any defects - surely not??? it has already been 2 .5 weeks and I just want it done already!!! thanks for your advice GF you need to understand the breakdown of warranties. 90 warranty is considered as minor defects rectification period where as the longer ones are more major/structural… 1 5327 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
