Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 2Aug 30, 2011 2:45 pm no, there apears to be a variety of 'skins' for SIPs - OSB, fibre cement, MgO board, steel (aka cool room panels), but I have not seen gyprock; fibro/MgO board would come close & be directly paintable. One reason might be that the `skin' must have a certain amount of strength - my guess would be that gyprock does not have it. Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 3Sep 08, 2011 10:11 pm Pretty much all SIPS will need to be clad on both the inside or the outside. The Climasteel option is much simpler on the inside as it really only needs the joins taped and plastered and then once painted it looks like a flush plaster wall. This panel has not yet been fully released but hopefully within the next few months will be up and running for everyone. There have been 20 - 30 houses constructed already through the developer of the product so we know that all the bugs have largely been ironed out! Builders are people too.... Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 4Sep 11, 2011 8:10 pm Climasteel??? would love to know some details (currently planning a SIP house for build next year) - can you enlighten us? Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 5Sep 11, 2011 9:06 pm As I mentioned, Climasteel has not yet been formally released to the general market but I anticipate this to occur very soon. You are welcome to PM me your details and I can send you some information when I can. Ostensibly the panel is a steel sandwich panel that interlocks and is very strong. Builders are people too.... Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 6Oct 12, 2011 3:12 pm Hi have a look at PanEco, web site at http://www.paneco.com.au their system only needs a top coat inside and out and, ie no plaster board, I am planning to use their product here in Melbourne. Update on this post, I didn't end up using the above company, after a visit to their factory and meeting with all of their senior people we left with enough concerns that we decided not to proceed with placing our order New custom Home design Consultant, SIPs Building, sloping blocks, knock down and rebuild or unusual design requirements Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 7Feb 15, 2012 10:05 pm The Climasteel technology has morphed into Pearls Miihome and you can see their detailed website at http://www.miihome.com.au I like the Paneco system however I feel they have a lot to learn on the panelisation of a building as there is too much timber framing involved - in short, they need more work. Advice for what it is worth, there is a job Paneco are doing in Melbourne, insist on viewing it AND speaking to the customer before making a decision with your hard earned cash! Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 8Feb 16, 2012 2:30 pm thanks for the link builda! another player to consider. flashy website - but I can't find some of the basic info like panel dimensions, thickness, R-values, what sort of foam, how panels are linked together, etc. any clues?? Re: Insulated Panels with Plasterboard Facing 9Feb 17, 2012 3:03 pm Yes, you are right - a flashy website and their technical data is either not there or very well hidden! In any event, the panels are 140mm thick external, 90mm internal. The foam is EPS and the R values I have no idea but would be very similar to comparable panels of the same thickness. The panels (I think) are now available in more modular sizes but mainly 1200mm wide by up to 8m long and are connected by pushing together a recessed edge joint and then screwing the panels together and the joint just gets plastered over like regular recessed edge plasterboard. Hope this helps. Builders are people too.... I am now happy to update (from a recent factory visit) that there is a whole new management at that company and they seem to have sorted out their panelisation issues and the new CEO is very switched on. From this point forward I would have no hesitation in recommending Paneco as they will give you the right advice. Builders are people too....
