Each panel is 1m wide, and 75mm thick (polystyrene foam sandwiched between two layers of sheet metal. One side of the roof has a 7 m span (4.5 m wide). The builder insists that the 7m long panels need no further support, even with 250kg of solar water heater+panels placed on the roof. I am somewhat worried... Is a 7m span plus additional weight cause for worry with a SIP roof ? Thanks in advance for any input.... D. Re: Panel span of SIP roof 2Jul 12, 2011 11:06 am My DH went to the SIP's industries seminar last week... he was told this as well. I would look on their website www.sipsindustries.com.au and ring them for advice.... Re: Panel span of SIP roof 3Sep 08, 2011 11:17 pm SIPS Industries make plywood faced panels and probably would not be able to help at all with metal panels. Try calling Bondor instead as they make these and are currently launching their new insulliving panels for domestic construction. http://www.insulliving.com.au/insulliving/home.php Builders are people too.... We used bondor panels in the roof and floor which sounds like your product. We have done a blog of the build a blog of the build at www.valleyworkshop.com or you can see a little family picture album on you tube, just search 'coles bay build'. Hope it may help to relieve some of your anxiety that you are not the only one. Yes, you may need to pay a few hundred dollars for it but you can sleep at night. An independent structural engineer isn't going to be able to work out a thing without knowing the full product specs, and a design check on a composite panel system isn't likely to only be a couple of hundred dollars worth of time either... The OP really needs to get hold of the certified span tables for the panels. The manufacturer has to have obtained engineering certification for the panels to be BCA compliant. With these in hand then yes, an independent engineer would be able to assist. Hi, Really struggling to find some consistency amongst Span Tables, can anyone help… 0 1493 Thank you Pulse, I thought we did the right things; external shutters on all windows down all day, west side of the house nearly completely in the shadow of the large two… 6 25123 2 7939 |
