Over the rafters, i put down wire, foil back insulation, 30x70 timber battens, then steel colorbond (Strammit Monoclad)in that order. I definitely have air gaps between the sheets and the fibreglass either side of the battens, will condensation form? Im thinking im gonna strip the roof and reverse battens and insulation.......... Re: foil backed insu under flat steel roof 2May 19, 2011 7:08 pm Rafter, battens, sisalation (silver side down), roof sheets. Screws go through roof sheet and sisalation. In domestic settings you dont even worry about the wire. Not only prevents condensation but also helps dull noise. Hmm, I think Iwent overboard, and about to go further. Initially, I layed wire, fibreglass ins with foil down, then screwed 30 x 70 timber battens on top of ins, then layed roof sheets. I now think the battens should have gone down before the fibregalss insul. Moving ahead, ill do the following; 1/ remove roofsheets. 2/ lay more fibre glass ins over top of battens, non foil type 3/ replace roof sheets Question; Can I buy rolls of fibreglass ins, without foil backing? I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17007 Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 14434 I would suggest you simply go and talk to council about your proposal, most councils are getting onboard with ancillary dwellings.
