Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Apr 27, 2011 8:12 am Hi All, I live in a house built 4 years ago and with heavy downpours have a few concerns about our guttering. I have a couple of areas of the house that are more of a concern than others. Last night we had a downpour that caused these gutters to fill and overflow from the front. The soakwells filled up too and overflowed. Our gutters don't have the little slits in the front of them that I believe relieves the level in this situation. After reading up a little I have read a lot about the high front guttering which is being employed by a lot of builders these days and am a little concerned we have this system (http://smh.domain.com.au/real-estate-news/new-homes-at-risk-from-faulty-guttering-20101205-18lel.html). I'll be getting the ladder out today to have a look but I'm wondering what I should be looking for in relation to the standards? We haven't experienced and flooding into our roof or eaves that we're aware of in the last 4 years but for all we know water could be entering into the cavity? Any help is much appreciated....I'll send a piccie or 2 if that can help identify our situation Regards Matt Re: Guttering Standards 2May 25, 2011 2:05 pm We had a problem with undersized box guttering in our recently built home. Some pictures of your situation would help. Yes, get a builder, make sure he is experienced and a registered building practitioner 5 9008 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 8039 Building Standards; Getting It Right! Don't think they are designed for double brick. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7102 |
