Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Mar 01, 2011 8:42 pm Has anyone had any problems with Prebuilt? I signed with them in April and am still waiting for house delivery in March (almost a year later) even tho I've paid 95% of the price by July. Also, they changed the foundations and are trying to charge extra for it. Re: Prebuilt 3Mar 04, 2011 7:37 pm Yes, but builders are supposed to get soils tests and engineering specs and THEN advise clients. Prebuilt did not advise me that they would have to deal with extra rock, etc. If you ask Consumer Affairs/consult the Building Act etc, you will find that they are NOT able to ask you for extra money for foundations, after they have done these tests! Re: Prebuilt 4Mar 04, 2011 8:21 pm you can do all the tests you like... nobody really knows what's down there till you start digging. on rare occasions its quite ugly. If i unknowingly purchased a ******* block of land, why should my builder fit the bill. The foundation i saw that blew out 100 thousand dollars, they hit rock... the engineer decided they take out the rocks... that didn't work... so the whole thing was redesigned.... the piers the, footings, the slab.. the block work...everything... I don't see how stuff like this should fall on the shoulders of a builder. |
