Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Oct 20, 2010 3:56 pm Hi, my first post. I am building in Bonner, ACT, early next year. Currently trying to come up with a design for a tricky corner block. I am trying to cut down on costs by doing some amateur drafting before getting a professional engaged. But I struggle with rooflines! The below link is to an image of the house and roofline (the house shaped like it is to match the corner and have a north aspect). My questions are about points 1 and 2 shown on the image. For Point 1 the valley would be intersecting an already intersected 135 deg 'turn' in the roof...if that makes sense...is that okay? Would the intersections at point 2 be okay? or be a 'birds nest' of framing and difficult to build? Any advice appreciate. Also, any building in the ACT at the moment, welcome your views on builders... thanks http://www25.brinkster.com/supersquib/roofquestions.jpg Re: help with rooflines 2Oct 21, 2010 6:00 pm cant access the site, says I need to be a member via a member or summin Re: help with rooflines 3Oct 21, 2010 7:14 pm Hi, This is the firsttime I have tried to share a file like this, so here goes. http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc3 ... ofHelp.jpg This is what your roof should look like at those 2 points I have ignored porch and intrusions into eave space. But should give you the idea. If you cannot see the file let me know. I dont think it is an overly comlicated roof line although I am not a roofie. Good luck with your plans.
