Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Sep 05, 2010 4:45 pm Since we've moved in, our son has been complaining of a rattling noise coming from the window when it's windy. We initially thought it was the fly screen and did everything we could do to secure it but the noise has persisted. At our 3 month inspection....we pointed it out to PD inspector and again nothing they could do. This noise has been driving my son insane as it is right next to his head when he sleeps. It is annoying him so much so that at times he can't sleep well at all. The other night we finally worked out that it is the insulation foil/sarking that is causing this noise and he's right....it's fricking annoying!!! What can we do??? Can we still get PD to fix this? The outside of his wall is weatherboard...so they wouldn't need to break any bricks. Pls help. Sounds like you need to gap seal @ the architrave/weatherboards ..is there a gap? Re: Sarking/insulation foil flapping in the wind - HELP 3Sep 05, 2010 8:06 pm We have the same issue and PD will fix it. I don't want the bricks pulled down as it is on our facade, so they can come in from the inside wall and go through the plaster. As it is highly unlikely it will be windy when someone comes out to check, film it on your phone so they can hear how loud it is. That's what I did. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. PD have made the offer via Jess to rectify the problem. Let us know the outcome of their investigation. Have you spoken to anyone at Porter Davis about the rattling noise in the insulation? Let me know how you go, or send me through your details and I'll see if I can get things moving for you. I was actually in the same situation like you "overwhelmed" where my 3 months inspection went past and I only picked that noise up recently but now I am quite happy that I got a call from my maintenance officer and she is organising in sending someone out to look at it. I am so relieved now and impressed with the fast turn around. =-) I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this?
