Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Aug 16, 2010 4:29 pm Have just been down to the house, and in some areas there are 3-4cm gaps between the slab and the bricks? Is this normal? Also the electrician has been and there are noticeable chunks out of the brickwork (where no wiring was necessary) and even a huge crack in brickwork and grouting on the L) side of the garage where they have tried to install cabling for the outside lights. Have to say in general everthing looks haphazard, untidy and **. Dh has a meeting with building supervisor tomorrow morning - but we are taking photos of the mess beforehand. At the end of the building process we are intending to get an independent building inspector in. Will post photos later today. It isn't normal to such large spacing between the edge of slab and blockwork. However there may be a reason for this - it may have been required for the setout. Take a tape measure with you and ensure that the dimensions are as per your plans. A photo of what you mean exactly will help. 2 7523 Got my stairs designed like this with 250mm Gap marked below.
