Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 24, 2010 10:47 pm We're close to handover and have noticed the water pressure from our main bath tap is very low. It's going take forever to run a bath for the kids! The water flow from the tap next to the meter at the front of the property is about 10 litres in 10 seconds. The flow from the outside tap half way down the side of the house is half that. I'm locked out until our next meeting, but am pretty sure the bath tap is even worse than that. Is there anything we can do about the water pressure from the bath tap? Is there a standard or code that specifies a minimum pressure for residential homes (inside the home)? I guess it makes no difference to you, but this doesn't sound like a water pressure problem, more like a flow problem. Is your stop tap turned on fully? If you do turn it on fully, always turn it back 1/4 turn so it doesn't jam. Could the bath possibly have a partially blocked aerator or filter on the end of the spout.Have seen these blocked with muck on new homes that severely limits the flow to certain fixtures and on some older homes have seen them so blocked that the flow of water has been non existent. Just an idea, Regards, Re: how do I improve low water pressure? 6Jul 02, 2010 7:31 pm Hey guys the issue with this you need to take out the water saving device inside the tap. I never understood why bath taps need to have this device installed as in the end it just takes longer to fill up. At the end of the spout you should be able to unscrew the filter. take this off and look inside you should she what i am refering to.
