Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 01, 2010 8:38 pm M3 just told me they will start plastering before the brickwork due to some delay of brick layer. Is there any problem of this? Can I say no? Re: Is it ok to plaster before brickwork? 2Jun 01, 2010 10:50 pm I would be concerned about water penetration, especially at this time of year. However, if your roof is already completed, and you have eaves, then it shouldn't be too much of a drama. The roof is finished but I don't have eaves. I beleive the the pipe work has been done. Re: Is it ok to plaster before brickwork? 5Jun 03, 2010 5:06 pm I would definitely so no . . but which ever way, put the onus back on the Builder. Don't verbally agree to anything. Re: Is it ok to plaster before brickwork? 6Jun 03, 2010 5:59 pm Depends if you're willing to wait or not. I assume there's a delay with your bricks being supplied? They did ours like this. ou can check our thread if you want to see/read. I was initially pretty worried about it but heaps of people on here seem to have had it done that way with no issues. I wouldn't be concerned about it if I was you. Re: Is it ok to plaster before brickwork? 7Jun 07, 2010 3:55 pm the only issue with having bricks done after plaster is that it is impossible to straighten your walls as good at fix up stage. You walls should always be straightened after the house is sealed so the the effect of the weather does not cause the timber to move and or bow anymore and make the timber stable. I had my walls straightened way the brickwork was going up. (wasnt much work bricks left left) and then when i checked the walls a week or to later they need to be redone a second time only spending another hour or two just before plaster was going up. Re: Is it ok to plaster before brickwork? 8Jun 07, 2010 7:24 pm I believe builders call this method of doing the plaster before brickwork "reverse lock-up". It allows them to still get progress payments as lock-up is done even though the brickwork is not completely finished. I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 16955 I wanted to get some thoughts on the quality of workmanship on the following brickwork? are there specific clauses in Australian Standards which relate… 0 4791 |
