Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 09, 2010 3:32 pm Hi all, we are on 5th stage of the house, when we went to the house, we felt there were some major changes (compared to 4th stage), to the front of the house, which actually surprise us. To us, we felt these dont seem to be right. However we don't know what the standard should be and hoping if someone can help us, to point out if there's a standard guideline. At least so we know, what it should be and if we can address to the builder supervisor. can anyone give a suggestion, on what should be, if it looks incorrect ? Thank you and Much appreciated for your feedback, all. 2. Foam(black thingy) between bricks ? What does the sponge do ? do they suppose to hold the gap between bricks? How does normally they look like, i mean, is it going to be covered with something else, when house finish, or does normally brick layer, leave it just like what is is? from the attached photos, looks like a poor workmanship? some of the sponge goes in, and some of them goes out (not inline). is this normal? will it be coloured different? This made us thinking, the builder had to drill the slab again, to put the skirting in. the they cover with cement but when they add the cement, these seems dont seem to be laid properly? (it looks like cracking everywhere ?) Porch bricks, slab and pipes 2May 25, 2010 7:16 pm We have just reached lock up, but also having the similar concerns at the moment. But our gaps are between the window sills and the weather strip, the bricks seem to be too short and there are gaps where the weather strip is pushed behind the bricks. Here is a photo of the same area on our build, if that helps any Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ours was filled with that stuff ( I'm sure 'stuff' is not the technical term for it ) Dear J.K. Porch bricks, slab and pipes 3Jun 15, 2010 9:42 pm hey thanks little misses... yeah the stuff ! hhehehehe apparently, the ss told me, they will fill gaps with silicone.... at later stage... so let's see how it goes. ss also agrees, there shouldn't be any hole that goes into the bricks... otherwise, who knows what's going into gap between bricks and plaster !!!
