I have a 100+yr old home in South Australia which has an illegal home attached to my wall. The council has no interest in investigating as it has been in existence for approximately 25 yrs.
My dillemma is that the current owner has passed away and I have spoken with the executor of the estate and the Real Estate agent and even paid for a independent valuation in an attempt to buy the property and address the issue: mainly the fact that the building is a fire hazard for my house as there is no firewall. Neither the executor or the agent wish to address the issue. I cannot afford to buy the property at the current price which is some 40K above the valuation i have. Does anyone have any advice as to how i can any take any "legal" action perhaps to ensure that my property is protected and the real estate agent is required to inform potential buyers about the "wall" and the lack of fire protection. Any helpful comments would be much appreciated.
