Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! Re: Is this enough to hold a 315 Litre water tank on a roof? 5Jan 25, 2010 10:51 am The tank and collectors are bolted together with a bar. This bar only connedts the tank and collectors together. There are two straps underneath the collectors at the bottom, with a single bolt in each strap going into a batten. There is also two straps "hooked" onto the tank at the top per the photo. I found the installation manual by ecosmart. They show a diagram that has four extra bolts (they call them coach bolts). These extra bolts go through the bar that connects the tank and collector together and go into the purlins of the roof. There are another two coach bolts in the bar at the bottom of the collectors, they too go into the purlins of the roof. Fixing details for the lower bar states you can either use straps or coach bolts. however, it does not give the option for the upper bar, which has no fasteners at all into the roof, and is supported by two only curled up stainless steel straps, which fixes into a batten with a single bolt per strap. As is per usual for many of the past failed RWH regulations, it is probably traceable to a bureaucrat who's ego overrode the need to seek the appropriate expert… 1 1015 yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5324 18 90484 |
