Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Oct 07, 2009 8:57 pm Hi Guys, We got quotes from Midland Brick and Brickmakers. Brikmakers was just over $4000 cheaper. Has anyone used these bricks, was the quality ok. As much as we could do with the extra $4000, we don`t want inferior quality. Cheers Re: Anyone used BRIKMAKER bricks. 2Oct 07, 2009 9:12 pm Hey mat, My work uses Brikmakers for some things, don't know about the quality compared to midland tho. They use austral bricks mainly, but also midland. I wouldn't think they were poor quality. They used to be Blokpave... are you in WA? Is it a quote for house bricks or paving? Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Anyone used BRIKMAKER bricks. 6Feb 12, 2010 3:11 pm Brikmakers are BGC and the price difference probably relates to the fact that it is a local company not eastern states owned. I would use the cheapest option, after all they are both clay bricks. Problems with clay brick work usually relate to the mortar not the brick. Re: Anyone used BRIKMAKER bricks. 7Mar 12, 2010 10:44 am Hi All, We have been speaking to a builder called Impression Homes in Perth. They are part of the BGC Group and as a standard build they use BrikMaker bricks for their homes. They offer a 2 course face brick as oppose to the standard 1 course face brick as they get a good deal by buying the 2 course. They quote us to change to a 1 course face brick is an additional $10k. Two of the bricks are limestone bricks so we are not sure if that's good. We noticed many of the homes here use 1 course face bricks and selected few uses the 2 course. Can anyone here please tell us if there are any difference between the two courses apart frm the size. Is one better than the other or has anyone used the 2 course before? $10k is a lot for us if we want the 1 course face brick. Re: Anyone used BRIKMAKER bricks. 8Mar 12, 2010 10:59 am $10k is simply outrageous and Impressions really doesn't want you to use them. There is no difference with 2 course other than the look and that it's more difficult for the brickies to lay them.
