Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Aug 19, 2009 1:31 pm Hi There are some cracks in the ceiling of a house we own. I am not sure yet exactly where the cracks are nor what has caused them. I am hoping they are only the 'usual' subsidence cracks that appear from time to time. If they are, who would I get to look at/ fix this? Is this something a local handyman could do or would I need a plasterer? Cheers Kim Re: Who does this job? 2Aug 21, 2009 8:06 am Kim, to be able to get the right info I think you will have to give more specific details as to the cracks. i.e. are they jointing cracks in the sheet joints etc. Many small plastering jobs can be successfully done by a handyperson, but if there is an underlying problem anything done may be a short term fix. Photos are a good way of showing the problem. If it's a relatively new plastering job it may be as simple as the incorrect tape used on the joints. i.e. perforated tape instead of paper tape but more info would be needed for any qualified advise. Re: Who does this job? 3Aug 21, 2009 9:36 am Thanks Peter I will post some pics as soon as I have them. It isnt a new house so it could be either some problem showing itself or subsidence cracks. Will see when I get the photos I guess. Think I was really after confirmation a handyman can handle it if it is something minor. Cheers Kim Regardless of wall hung toilet or floor pan toilet your feet will be right on drain, seems to me the waste should not be in that location given the design. For timber flooring, for most parts it's fine because it's got base plates, and for door jabs you can… 7 11488 |
