Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 29, 2009 9:24 pm hi. not sure if this is the right forum....
but im renovating at the moment, a little bit. along the lines, my neighbours have made a letter of demand that we move our water meter off their property. they've said its encroaching by 25cm, they say they've done a survey, but we have no copy of it. and has been like that for 20 years... no one has been bothered by it untill now. can they make us move it? Re: Water meter encroaches 25cm into neighours. PROBLEM 2Jun 29, 2009 10:23 pm Reverse the roles. If your neighbour's water meter (or anything else for that mater) was in your property, would you not want it moved? Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Water meter encroaches 25cm into neighours. PROBLEM 3Jun 30, 2009 5:49 am Because it has been there so long, talk to the water authority and your local council about it. They may have policies that deal with long term stuff ups. Re: Water meter encroaches 25cm into neighours. PROBLEM 5Jun 30, 2009 8:40 pm Is the water meter inside your fenceline? If so and your fence has been there for 20 years you may be entitle to lay claim on that property/land. My suggestion is to look into it further. Even in new estates, many blocks can be fenced wrongly, all it takes is the one on the corner to be wrong and the rest are generally measured off that. Check out this link http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/lawref ... /wrong.htm Thanks for your advice. So far i have not noticed any issues with doors and windows. Builder advised they will organise drainers to inspect 2 weeks ago but no further… 7 18821 I use Tramex moisture meter and it will tell me instantly if the wall is cement sheet or plaster or masonite but most people dont have the equipment. 5 7093 |
