We are building a 2 story house in Adelaide and plan on using Hebel 75 mm autoclaved aerated concrete for the lower level and renderpanel walling system for the upper level. I have recently heard that the Hebel is prone to joint swelling and problems down the track. Any information on foreseeable problems or issues would be great. Cheers Beetle Re: Hebel products 2Jan 07, 2010 6:48 pm I have not seen hebel swell.... it is typically used to form up shower trays, which is quite a wet and humid environment, Hebel is a concrete product and as such shares many of concretes plusses, with out the added weight. I am a big fan of Hebel as a building product. I can absorb water and as such needs to be sealed correctly, but the joints should not swell Re: Hebel products 3Jan 20, 2010 6:31 pm We did exactly the same as you Hebel on the bottom foam on the top the whole lot rendered. I installed the hebel myself, the only problem I had was one slight crack in a corner where I didn't put an expansion joint in where I was meant to, which was easily fixed. I left the stuff un rendered for 3 months for this purpose. great stuff, good thermal qualitys, beautiful rendered finish perfectly straight and is good at noise insulation. Re: Hebel products 4Feb 05, 2010 12:16 pm I would consider using the powerfloor to the upstairs as well that way the floor will match your ground floor in sound and the 'solid' feel. I have used hebel for upstairs flooring (for brick veneer houses on concrete slabs) a number of times and the clients have been happy. Like any 'system' product the key is to install exactly as per manufacturers req so that warranties are not voided. I was looking at different options for a fence for my build and Hebel PowerFence seemed like a good option (one of the criteria was a solid wall look). However, I don't… 0 5905 1 6633 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6202 |
