Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 14, 2009 3:27 pm Hi Everyone. I am not sure if this the place to post my message but I just finished building my new house and I am trying to organise my own front landscaping project. The first thing I want to do is put up a rendered brick fence with infill timber strips at the front and partial around the corners where it meets my side colour bond fences. I spoken to my local council (City of Wanneroo) and requested for an application form and specifications. There is one thing I am not clear about is what is the max or min width of the wall between the piers/pillars? On the specification is says that the piers has to be centered at 2700mm in between. Thanks David. Re: Building a front bricked boundry fence. 2May 14, 2009 3:30 pm We're working with a width of 2400 between brick piers. From what we've been told by aluminium fencing suppliers, this seems to be standard Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Building a front bricked boundry fence. 3May 14, 2009 4:03 pm My problem is if I stick with the standard width 2700 or 2400, my pillars will not be evenly spaced out. Re: Building a front bricked boundry fence. 4May 14, 2009 5:29 pm Does it really matter whether the spacings are either one? As you'll be having horizontal slats, aren't they cut to whatever length you require? As you'll be having horizontal slats, aren't they cut to whatever length you require? for example my total frontage width is 17m, 2700/2400m spacing will not space evenly based on that total width. My two cents worth: The pier spacings are not a council regulation. The pier spacing is determined by a structural engineer, who calculates this based on the wall height and the wall lenghts. 2700mm might be a maximum spacing, there is no reason why you could space them closer togeather to get a even number of piers along your boundary.
