Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Nov 29, 2008 11:24 am Hi,
A plumber installed the kitchen plumbing with the hot water pipe on the right and cold on the left then crossed over to make the tap feed hot from the left. He also attached the feed to my dishwasher off the HW pipe (reason being that it is more energy efficient for the DW not to heat the water and use the instant HW directly) Is this against any plumbing regulations? Another plumber came along and installed an instant HW gas unit that fed off the piping leading to the kitchen. He assumed the HW pipe was on the left and that the cold was on the right with the Dishwasher coming off it. So the unit was hooked up wrongly. The plumber assumed the unit was faulty and called for service. The next day the service guy comes out and says the pipes are crossed and that will be $100 for the callout thankyou. I get the 2nd plumber back who crosses the pipes over and blames the other plumber and that the pipes are illegally laid and he has never heard of hooking up a dishwasher to the hot water and won't pay the $100. Other plumber says the guy should have checked the source of the pipes before fitting (I'm with him.) Now my hot water in the kitchen comes from the right side of the tap which the first plumber now has to fix. Have searched online for regulations with no luck. Can someone please help with the correct regulations and any advice re the above saga. Thanks Re: hot water pipe on right and tap on left - regulations 2Nov 29, 2008 2:07 pm I had a query relating to this issue :
