Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jan 13, 2024 6:38 pm Hi all, My neighbour has built his 15m long garage on our boundary. It was agreed as part of the planning permit that the wall must be in exposed recycled brick. For some reason the neighbour never asked for permission to go on my land to build the wall. ( i have my property leased out ) and he decided to build the wall from his side. As a consequence the finish on my side of the boundary wall is messy and not to the standard he has on his side of the property. Mortar has squeezed out between the bricks and the bricks are misaligned in places. Added to this he has decided to apply an above ground 50cm high black painted water proofing membrane to the wall on my side. This looks unsightly and I am sure is not up to normal standards. This wall is 15m long and runs down my side yard which is 10m wide. This build is only half way finished. What options do i have to get the finish to the wall at the same level he has on his side and to adjust the water proofing membrane to an acceptable height above ground. Thank you Hello, We are about to build and the plans show a part of the exterior wall is being built on top of a limestone retaining wall. Does this mean the retaining wall will… 0 20133 just talk to them, tell them it is unsightly and ask them for a solution. Any reasonable person would render it for you or do something similar. If they give you trouble… 4 26547 Thanks for the detailed comments chippy, I'll use this as a guide. 3 12348 |
