Hi all,
New member here fresh from Yankland. I've been coming to Oz for a dozen years and now live in NSW. I've noticed a large difference in home wiring standards. In the US each switch, powerpoint, light fixture or fan has a junction or mounting box and the fixture screws into the box. I know most of the reasons for this on the US end, but does anyone know why things are the way they are here? I've looked at light switches and wall sconce lighting fixtures and found that they're mounted to holes in the drywall.
Thanks for all the tips on the forums...I have a heap to learn.
