Roof Downpipe connections to drainage

Hi,

During recent renovations we've re-done our roof gutters and downpipes. The downpipes connect at below-ground drain running off to wherever rain-water goes ...

Attached show the connection of the downpipes (gray) connecting to the white pipe that goes to ground drain.

The right-hand side downpipe connection seems odd to me. I feel the 45deg piece connecting the horizontal feed is the wrong piece as it shows threads that are not used. You can also see on the vertical part, there is an add-on piece (with a barcode) joining the downpipe which was probably cut too short..

Initially, this downpipe did not completely insert itself in this vertical part of the white 45deg connector, but the plumber (in my absence) managed to get it in and put some seal around the rim (it was previously spitting water outside the drain).

Is this a viable solution ? Should the downpipe which I believe was cut too short be replaced ? and, what is the correct 45deg PVC connector to use ?
